The 2012 Volkswagen Passat S is a difficult car to maintain. To access the engine air filter multiple fasteners and housing parts must be removed first, which doesn’t allow for reliable filter changes. The tail lights also have convoluted access, requiring multiple panels, bolts, and housing removals before the bulbs can be reached. Accessing the lower radiator hose may be a problem, as a large panel needs to be removed from underneath the vehicle that can be cumbersome to maneuver.
However, the 2012 Volkswagen Passat S has its upsides. Monitoring the engine coolant fluid level isn’t a problem as the reservoir has very open access in the engine bay. Both fuse boxes are quick to find and the interior comes provided with a fuse puller, allowing you to reliably troubleshoot any electrical problems. The spare tire and jack kit are packaged together, allowing you to service a flat in a flash.
