To access the fog lights, you will have to remove the air filter housing, or reach through the wheel well, depending on which side you are replacing. Neither of these steps is easy to complete. One of the tail light bulbs is difficult to access. You will have to remove a large panel from the rear of the vehicle, which will require the use of many tools to complete.

Some things are easier and more reliable on the 2014 BMW X1 xDrive28i. The reverse light is extremely easy to access. You only have to remove one cover in the rear of the vehicle for access to this and many of the other tail lights. The power steering fluid reservoir is easily visible in the engine bay. This will allow you to check and replenish the fluid level easily on a regular basis. Changing the rear wiper blade is easy to do on this car. Other models will require the use of tools to complete, so it’s a nice touch to be able to change this blade with just your hands.
