To access the lower radiator hose for a coolant drain, you will have to remove a large panel, as well as many torx bolts for access. This will require you to contend with gravity as you complete. You will have to reach through the wheel well lining for access to the fog light. This can be tough, as the lining can grow tight to the vehicle over time and be difficult to peel back. To change the cabin air filter with reliability, you will have to remove multiple panels from under the vehicle. This access is easier on other models.

As stated, some things are easier on the 2012 Volkswagen GTI. Changing the headlight is no problem, as you only have to reach behind the housing for access to the bulb. Checking the oil level is easy to do, as the oil dipstick is easily accessible in the engine bay. The engine coolant reservoir is easily visible in the engine bay. This will allow you to check and replenish the fluid level on a regular basis.
