The 2002 Chevrolet S10 LS is a relatively easy car to maintain, and a good choice when compared to similar models. You only have to remove a few Phillips head screws in order to access the engine air filter. Other vehicles make this access much more difficult. Checking the brake fluid level is easy to do on this car, as the fluid reservoir is very visible in the engine bay.
Not everything is perfect on the 2002 Chevrolet S10 LS. You will have to lower the tire from beneath the vehicle for access. This can be a problem, as the lowering mechanism can grow rusted to the vehicle over time. In order to access the front turn signal, you will have to remove the headlight housing first. This is an extra step you won’t find on other models. To drain the coolant, you will have to remove a panel from beneath the vehicle first. This requires you to crawl underneath the vehicle, and use tools you may not have readily available for a repair.
