The 1997 Toyota Camry XLE is a relatively difficult vehicle to maintain, but shouldn’t be too hard for those experienced in vehicle maintenance. To access some of the tail light bulbs, you will need to use many different tools in order to remove the tail light housing. The center brake light can be tough to change. You will have to remove the housing, and work in a cramped space, to access the bulb. You will also need to remove the turn signal housing for access to the bulb. The tools necessary for these repairs may not be readily available for a repair.
Some things are easier on the 1997 Toyota Camry XLE. Changing the headlight bulb with reliability is no problem, as you only have to reach behind the housing for access to the assembly. Checking the transmission fluid level is easy to do, as the dipstick is easily accessible in the engine bay. Not every model includes this dipstick. The engine air filter is easy to access and change. You only have to disengage a few fasteners for access to the filter, and these fasteners are easy to disengage.
