The 1997 Subaru Legacy L is an easy car to maintain. All of the tail lights are located behind small covers in the trunk lining and hatch door, allowing for quick and reliable access. Both the engine and interior fuse boxes are quick to find with easy-to-remove covers, and the latter comes with a fuse puller to help you troubleshoot any electrical problems. The engine air filter can be changed with ease, as no tools are needed to disengage the housing for access.
However, the 1997 Subaru Legacy L has its downsides, primarily with its lights. Access to the headlight will prove to be tight, and multiple fasteners will need to be disconnected, which won’t allow for reliable replacements. The entire housing needs to be removed to access the turn signal, which will be a time-consuming removal. The center brake light may also be problematic because of the numerous panels and fasteners.
