The 1997 Mercury Tracer LS is a relatively easy vehicle to maintain, and a good choice for even the average vehicle owner. Checking the transmission fluid level is no problem, as the fluid dipstick is easily accessible in the engine bay. Changing the headlight will reliability is easy to do, as you only have to reach behind the housing for access to the bulb. Reaching the fog light bulb is no problem either, as you can access it with a simple reach under the vehicle.
Some things are problematic on the 1997 Mercury Tracer LS. Accessing the center brake light will be tough, as you will have to work in a cramped location, and use a few tools, to complete. The engine coolant reservoir is not overly visible on this vehicle. This will make it tough to check and replenish the fluid level on a regular basis. You will have to completely remove the tail light housing for access to any of the tail light bulbs. The tools necessary may not be readily available for a repair.
