The 1997 Dodge Ram 2500 is a relatively easy vehicle to maintain. Checking the transmission fluid level with reliability is no problem, as the dipstick is easily accessible in the engine bay. The brake fluid reservoir is easily visible in the engine bay. This will allow you to check and replenish the fluid level on a regular basis.

Some things are problematic on the 1997 Dodge Ram 2500. You will have to lower the tire from under the vehicle for access to it. The lowering mechanism can grow rusted to the vehicle and be difficult to turn. Removing the taillight housing for access to the taillights can be tough, as you will need to remove torx bolts first. The power steering reservoir is not overly visible on this vehicle as it is located deep in the engine bay.
