The 1992 Volvo 740 is a relatively easy vehicle to maintain. All of the headlights are accessible by simply reaching behind their bulb housing, allowing for reliable bulb changes whenever necessary. Accessing the tail lights won’t be a problem as they’re all located in a single bulb housing behind a single panel that removes with ease. The engine air filter is easy to change as no tools are needed to disengage its housing which lifts up without hassle.
However, the 1992 Volvo 740 does have its downsides. The fuse box’s unusual location behind the gearshift might make it challenging to access, and won’t allow for reliable electrical troubleshooting. The center brake light is not an LED bulb and will thus require more maintenance than it would on newer models. Reaching the oil filter may be a problem given the necessary removal of a large panel underneath the vehicle for access.
